Happy New Year!! Glad to have you back!
We start out the year with a "Happy Birthday" theme.
Our letter for the week is Ww for wish. We will be having some birthday fun!
Some KDIs we are working on this week are-
Sense of competence: Children feel they are competent. - As we wrap birthday gifts, count candles and do our tasks this week along with getting dressed ourselves and opening our snacks, we know we can!
Fine-motor skills: Children demonstrate dexterity and hand-eye coordination in using their small muscles.- From wrapping packages, to making a birthday cake out of clay, to tracing and drawing our birthday wish, our fingers will get lots of work in the next couple of days.
Body awareness: Children know about their bodies and how to navigate them in space.- We are going to play "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" and some other birthday games. We will also get outside this week I hope!
Counting: Children count things.- How many candles go on the cake?
Jesus Time- This week we finish the nativity story with God keeping Jesus, Mary and Joseph safe as they escape to Egypt. God takes care of us too, there is no where we can go that He is not with us!
Books of the Week- "Happy Birthday, Moon!" by Frank Asch, "Happy Birthday Oliver!" by Pierre Le-Tan, "Arthur's Birthday" by Marc Brown and "Jimmy's Boa and the Big Splash Birthday Bash" by Trina Hakes Noble.
Next week Thursday we have a field trip scheduled to the Westland Public Library. We plan to meet there at 9:30 am. There is no cost, just come and see what great things the library has to offer!! A note will come home today where you can indicate attendance.
Have a fantastic week!
Mrs. Schneck
