What do you want to be when you grow up? We are looking at all sorts of different types of occupations this week in preschool. As we look we are working on the following KDIs-
Engagement: Children focus on activities that interest them.- What do you like to do? What interests do you have? They are pretty young to be thinking of a career, but it is interesting to see how many of them know what their parents do. Some of them know exactly what their parents do, some just know their parents work. We are exploring different tools for different jobs and different likes and dislikes.
Book knowledge: Children demonstrate knowledge about books- This week we talk about the difference between real and pretend or fiction and non-fiction books.
Community roles: Children recognize that people have different roles and functions in the community- We are talking about this specifically this week.
Jesus Time- This week we are talking about the big catch of fish that Peter, Andrew, James and John experienced when Jesus sent them out to fish during the day after they hadn't caught any fish the night before. They caught so many fish their nets started to break and their boats started to sink. Jesus then gave them the invitation to be "fishers of people" for him. They left their nets behind and came! We are fishers too!
Books of the Week- We are reading a variety of books this week about different careers, today we read about artists, astronauts and firefighters, we will read about police officers, news reporters, doctors, dentists and others.
Look for the email about kindergarten "sneak peek."
We will be going outside even in the rain, so boots and coats with hoods will be great!!
God bless your week!!
