Blog for May 8 and 10- NO SCHOOL FRIDAY MAY 12th!

We are learning about creepy crawlies this week to coincide with our Nankin Mills visitor tomorrow. From 9:30-10:30 we will be having a reptile/amphibian encounter!

Table activities this week are reptile sensory pool, bead snakes, pickup snakes game and turtle mosaic.

Some KDIs we are working on are-

Use of resources: Children gather information and formulate ideas about their world.- Look around and use what you see to figure things out. We have been looking alot at the world around us, animals, insects, nature turning to spring and summer. Life cycles have become real and witnessed.

Patterns: Children identify, describe, copy, complete, and create patterns- We do this all the time in morning meeting! They have become very observant and make their own patterns too.

Emotions: Children recognize, label, and regulate their feelings. - Sometimes feeling angry is not okay, when there is no reason for it, it is not okay to be angry. Some emotions are sinful, we talk about how and when it's okay to express how we feel and when it is okay to feel certain ways.

Jesus Time- Jesus ascended into heaven in last week's story. This week we see the disciples waiting in Jerusalem, just like Jesus told them to. They heard the sound of a loud wind and saw little tongues of fire on each other's heads. They had received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gave them the ability to speak in other languages so that the visitors to Jerusalem could hear about Jesus that day. We call that day Pentecost because it happened 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead. The Holy Spirit gave the disciples the courage and the ability to carry out the work Jesus had given them- to tell the whole world about him! We know about Jesus today because they told people long ago and the Holy Spirit inspired men to write down God's Word in the Bible! Now we can go and tell!

Books of the Week-  "A Color of His Own" by Leo Lionni, "Verdi" by Janelle Cannon, and "Lyle, Lyle the Crocodile" by Bernard Waber.
