We are really cooking this week!! Our theme and activities this week are centered on cooking and food!
Table activities are playing with measuring cups and spoons in oatmeal, making paper cookies to decorate, playdough cookies and muffins, paper "salad", painting with cooking utensils and pretend pizza.
KDIs we are looking at this week-
Measuring: Children measure to describe, compare, and
order things.- as we make recipes we will be measuring in cups and spoons!
Data analysis: Children use information about quantity to
draw conclusions, make decisions, and solve problems. - How much is enough? Why cups of flour and a teaspoon of salt?
Reflection: Children reflect on their experiences.- How do things turn out and why?
Jesus Time- This week we hear about the first Christian martyr Stephen. Stephen was chosen to help the disciples out when the church got so large on Pentecost. He helped make sure the church was helping those who needed help and also proclaimed the truth about Jesus. The Jewish leaders brought him in to threaten him to try and get him to stop talking about Jesus. He refused and testified to the Jewish leaders, showing them through Old Testament prophecies that Jesus was who he said he was. They were furious! They took him outside, threw him down and threw stones at him until he died. They placed their coats at the feet of a man named Saul. Stephen gave a courageous testimony about Jesus and Christians spread the news about Jesus all over the known world.
Books of the Week- "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" by Laura Numeroff, "Little Pea" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and "Peanut Butter and Cupcake" by Terry Border.
Have a super week!!
Mrs. Schneck
